Samsung is expected to launch a “tuned” version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that is more powerful than the standard SoC. The mobile will arrive in Brazil in early 2023.

The Galaxy S23 has yet to be released, but rumors of a future Samsung premium mobile keep popping up. This time, the leaks indicate that the South Korean giant is preparing a special version of the device that promises to be the most powerful flagship of the company, and even among the competitors. It turns out that the company will be powering the product with a version of the recently launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with more computing power.

This “modified” version of the Qualcomm processor is expected to be manufactured by Samsung Foundry, the brand’s chip manufacturing subsidiary. TSMC, which also manufactures the component, is expected to offer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in conventional capacity.

Why is the chip stronger?

The international press bets that there are two different types of slides. While both components are Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the difference in performance will be in the manufacturing details. The Standard Edition will be produced by TSMC through a process known as N4P. With that, you have a 3.2GHz Cortex X3 Prime core, which powers all other mobiles sold with this chip.

Meanwhile, the modified version of the Snapdragon will be manufactured by Samsung using the 4nm LPE process. Here, the Cortex X3 can be more powerful as it will offer a higher clock speed than the standard chip, with 3.32GHz. This small difference can put the S23 ahead of the competition.

If the rumors are confirmed, games on this model should run much better. That’s because the Adreno 740 GPU will see a jump in frequency, from 680 MHz to 719 MHz. It’s not yet known how this performance boost should affect device temperatures.

The Galaxy S23 is launched

There is still no official confirmation from the company on the exact launch date of the new product range. However, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S23 mobile phones at an event in February 2023.

Among the expected technical details is the new screen with a maximum brightness of 2200 nits per square meter, compared to the 1750 nits of its predecessor. Furthermore, the Galaxy S23 Plus is expected to have a 4,700mAh battery, while the potential Galaxy S23 Ultra could have a 5,000mAh capacity.
